Hourly How-to Guide
For guidance regarding breaking in your outboard, refer to your owner’s manual, which is provided with each Suzuki outboard. Breaking in your new Suzuki outboard will take a total of 10 hours and ensures peak performance. By following the below schedule, you improve the lifespan of your motor and allow it to bed effectively to avoid overstressing your motor.
Hours One to Two:
The first one to two hours are very important. You must let your outboard warm up for five minutes, then idle at the lowest gear speed for 15 minutes. It is crucial to not exceed 3,000 rpm during this time.

Hour Three:
In hour three, operate your motor at 4000 rpm. However, we still recommend avoiding running the outboard at full throttle.
Hours Four to 10:
During this final stage, you can operate your outboard at the desired speed and occasionally proceed to full throttle once the motor is warm.
